Worse than Road Warrior — worse than Blade Runner — our collective tomorrow is darker than any Hollywood vision of a depopulated, post-apocalyptic planet Earth. It is a horror which could only be conceived by the futurists at Toyota Motor Company.

In the future, we will all be forced to look like complete idiots.

This is Toyota’s iReal concept vehicle, which started making the rounds at international auto shows last autumn. It seats one foolishly grinning passenger, and whips along at a breathtaking speed of 18.6 miles per hour.

The iReal answers the burning question: What could possibly be more embarrassing than the Segway when it comes to personal transportation? A high-tech, white plastic wheelchair, it would seem.
