Dix Hill, NY mom Amy Kaplan was pissed. She showed up to sushi restaurant Sushi Park with her family, ready for a night of eating uncooked fish wrapped in seaweed, and got a cold fishy slap of reality when told her 11 year old daughter was ineligible for the half priced children’s menu due to her height. Her daughter Nikki was a few inches over the maximum height the restaurant requires for the half price discount and Mrs. Kaplan was told she’d have to pony up the full amount.

Not only did Amy Kaplan turn around and march her brood out of the restaurant, but she tried to lodge a complaint with the Division of Human Rights over the perceived slight. She was told that it’s perfectly legit for a restaurant to base pricing on height. Her appeal to the Supreme Court is in the works.
