Companion Dog Fetches Groceries and Does the Laundry

You probably wouldn’t guess that Hazel Carter is 68. Or the things she’s trained her two-year-old Newfoundland, Connie, to do around the house.
Carter is an animal behaviorist. Maybe that gives her a leg up on the rest of us when it comes to training a pet. But when crippling arthritis began to prevent Carter from taking care of herself, she decided to put her professional skills to the test.
Connie is now her master’s part-time caregiver. She can load the washing machine and transfer things to the dryer without being asked. In fact, Carter says Connie could probably handle the whole thing unsupervised — if she’d only quit mixing the whites with the darks.
A quick trip to the grocery isn’t beyond Connie’s capabilities, either. Carter calls the corner grocery with her order and sends Connie around with a basket. No delivery tip required.
Don’t believe it? To be honest, we didn’t either. But search Google for yourself.
