Fun safety fact for the New Year: frozen dogs may explode when cremated.

That’s what a Darwin, Australia, pet crematorium operator told authorities Wednesday after passing motorists reported a fire at the facility.

Fire and police arrived to discover flames spewing from the crematorium chimney. The proprietor responded that a frozen dog was the culprit. Apparently they blow up sometimes when placed in the furnace.

There was no explanation as to why frozen dogs explode when they’re cremated, but you’ve been warned. Always thaw first.
