Two cows recently escaped in Danville, Pennsylvania and were gunned down by local police to prevent them from going on a bloody killing spree, them being cows and all. A photographer from the 25,000 circulation The Daily Item photographed a hero cop blasting one of the rampaging bovines from behind the protection of a concrete wall and and editor Len Ingrassia made the ballsy call to put it on the front page.

As much as people enjoy the hell out of eating hamburgers and steak, they’re not so keen on seeing the actual process of the take down. The Daily Item got deluged with calls and canceled subscriptions though Ingrassia defends his decision citing the newsworthiness of the story.

Come on people, those cows were headed to the slaughterhouse as it was. If you eat meat you’ve got no right to bitch about shit like this, at least those cows got to run around a bit before meeting their maker. Better a shot in the head in field than a bolt in the skull in the slaughterhouse.
