Choose a New Theme Song for the Hillary Clinton Campaign

Hillary ClintonQuick! Name the title of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign theme song.

You can’t, can you? Of course not: For some incomprehensible reason, the Clinton campaign chose schmaltz queen Celine Dion’s impossibly unremarkable “You and I” to usher the New York senator on and off the stage. At least someone had the good sense to script a reasonably clever video parody of the Sopranos finale to announce the selection.

You’d need a heaping serving of clever to offset lyrics like this:

High above the mountains, far across the sea
I can hear your voice calling out to me
Brighter than the sun and darker than the night
I can see your love shining like a light
And on and on this earth spins like a carousel
If I could travel across the world
The secrets I would tell

“Secrets,” indeed. How unfortunate.

Now it looks as if Hillary’s managers have thrown Celine under the campaign bus. ABC’s political bloggers report that “You and I” has been strangely absent at recent events, replaced Big Head Todd and the Monsters slightly hipper “Blue Sky.”

But we’re thinking snarfd readers can do better, which brings us to our first-ever snarfd poll: What’s your suggestion for a new Hillary Clinton campaign theme song?

Republicans, Democrats, Independents … knock yourselves out. Drop your suggestion into our comments section. The snarfd editorial staff will tabulate the results and somewhat arbitrarily select the three we think best represent you, the savvy and waggish snarfd reader. We’ll forward these to the Clinton campaign for consideration.

We will also randomly award some cool but yet-undetermined prize to one lucky reader. If you’d like to be in the running for this pig-in-a-poke, leave a legit email address. It won’t be published.

Okay, get after it. Make us proud.
